Eat the Rainbow!

Following upon my last post, where I introduced a formula which helps balance and support us on so many levels and in so many systems, we can also help support all the levels of our health through our diet.

As we say to our daughter - eat the rainbow!

In Traditional Chinese Medicine each organ system correlates with a different colour. By eating those foods, you are helping to support that organ system and all of the senses, emotions and body parts associated with that system.

Lungs - white

Kidneys - black

Liver - green

Heart - red

Spleen - yellow

Here are some hints to get you started!

Lungs - mushrooms, almonds, pears, onion, garlic!

Kidneys - black beans, black sesame seeds, black fungi, seaweed, blackberries!

Liver - kale, parsley, basil, dill, broccoli, asparagus, limes!

Heart - tomatoes, cherries, hawthorn berries, raspberries, beef!

Spleen - egg yolks, yellow peppers, grains, sweet potatoes, squash!

I know this may sound very elementary, but sometimes the simplest thing is the best thing. Enjoy the simplicity, and go eat a rainbow!
