Maitake / Hui Shu Hua
I’m not sure why this mushroom is not more widely known about in the West, as it is amazing!
Grifola frondosa, or maitake mushroom, is another delicious and nutritious addition to meals with added medicinal benefits for your health.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is associated with the channels of the Spleen, Stomach & Heart, as well and strengthening the Liver and regulating the Intestines.
Maitake’s ability to help manage hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, cancer and enhance immunity have been studied extensively. Japanese research found that the immuno-stimulating properties of Maitake rival or even surpasses those of Shiitake and Reishi mushrooms. It has been used also for helping with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, to assist weight loss, and as an athletic performance enhancer. It is often used in combination with other mushrooms, as they will balance and synergistically support one another for maximum benefit.
